 Sunday
- I am always intrigued by the way in which some creatures are camouflaged
and was therefore delighted to find this buff-tip moth on our front door when
we returned home this afternoon. In another setting it would be mistaken for
the branches on which it lives, however it was clearly visible in all it's
detail on our white door. A magnificent photo opportunity! Also took a photo
of the star of bethlehem which grows in our churchyard. There is so much
amazing variety in God's world.

Monday - I just love the hot
pink of this summer flower (cistus I think) with its paper thin petals and
blooms that last for only a day, but what a glorious display they make.

 Tuesday
- went out for lunch and was extremely fortunate to catch on film (rather
digital card) this beautiful painted lady butterfly. Usually they are far too
frisky for me to manage to get one. And you will be pleased to hear that this
one was far from dead! It flew off immediately it had completed its photo
call. I thought that I would also include a photo of one of our aquilegia
which is a double. From this view you can see why they are called grannies
bonnets with a profusion of what looks like lace surrounding a small face.

Thursday
already and nothing terribly exciting today I'm afraid, simply a wasp like
creature which I have yet to check on to see what it really is. The bees I
tried to capture were all rather too fast for me and it was getting late in
the day.

 Saturday
- the end of another week. Went to Hatfield Forest for a walk and managed to
see the Great Crested Grebe closer than ever before, but that is not to say
that I managed a photo! However there were lots of wild orchids which I did
succeed with - they're stationery! Also managed a photo of the wild rose
which is in profusion everywhere at the moment and a common damsel fly -
although why the latter is called common I cannot think when you consider the
amazing electric blue that it is.
