We
have a variety of missions etc. that we support in our church family. In
Uganda we have a link with a CMS missionary the Rev Janet Muhindo whose
work is with education and children there. We also support the Church Army
and have a contact with Jonathan Wiggam (see more about his work at http://www.churcharmy.org.uk/pub/MeetOurPeople/JonathanWiggam.aspx).
For fund raising for the Church Army we have every year a Posada when various
families host knitted figures of Mary and Joseph for the night.
One
of our choir members also runs a popular Fair Trade stall following the
Family Services in our churches to encourage us to think about fairly traded
goods. This is being well supported, many of us enjoying the products that
we can buy knowing the producers are being paid fairly for their goods.
Here she is seen before a service some time ago discussing with a
fellow chorister the goods that are on offer.
We hold a Christian Aid lunch in Christian Aid week usually following a walk from one church to the other after the 10.00 a.m. morning service. All are welcome to this simple bread and cheese lunch for which we ask a donation. This is always an enjoyable occasion. In addition to this several people follow the Count Your Blessings Lent Appeal.
We are a FairTrade Church and have an Environmental
Officer to help us address issues of caring for the environment.
