Having received an email from someone from America who had viewed this site I realised that there is no indication of the size or nature of the garden in which most of the photographs are taken. For instance when I refer to our garden pond this could indicate a small lake to one person or to another exactly what it is a small water feature. I have therefore now included this page to help resolve this.
The back garden which is the subject of the photographs on this page is about 70 feet long and about 40 feet wide. The front garden is probably about 40 foot square. In the back garden we have 3 small patio areas, 2 of these are set a little back from the main lawned area and on one we have a small water feature.
The garden is fairly well maintained although Pete, my husband, does not trim the lawn every week, allowing it to grow and be more wildlife friendly. The trees and shrubs are kept cut back otherwise we would be overtaken. Pete is a great advocate of recycling and is always collecting stuff for the green waste collection that comes to the village regularly during the spring, summer and autumn as well as keeping a small compost heap. The garden encourages a variety of birds and insects and the odd rodent or two.
