Almost
half way through February and this is the first entry on the 12th.That is not
to say that there has been nothing to report just a lack of time in which to
update the diaries. I seem to be seeing a greater number of moths this year
than previous years, or perhaps it is just that I am more aware of them. This
morning for instance there were 4 pale brindled beauties on the wall by the
outside light, a mottled umber and an as yet unidentified tortrix of which this
is a picture.
The long tailed tits continue to be fairly regular visitors to the garden. But of note and the photo that I didn't get was of a pair of goldcrests that appeared one morning in the tree outside my study window. I have not seen these tiny birds in our garden before so was delighted to see them there. I must remember to make a note of them so that next year when we fill in a survey of garden birds seen here they will be added.
One thing
that we enjoyed at the end of January was the village pantomime, click here or on the picture for a link to the pdf
file that tells the tale.
