April 2011
over 2 years since I last updated
this but then perhaps I have been busier than usual. Perhaps things will
quieten down a little and my husband is insisting that I re-visit some
of my interests other than work to give me some life balance. Sounds like
a good idea. So last nighht we put the moth trap out something we have
only done occasionally since moving without much success but this morning
there was a new species to me although I could easily have misidentified
it. It was a lesser swallow prominent, pheosia gnoma, I have previously
had the swallow prominent, pheosia tremula in the trap and had to
check back that I had identified that correctly. So new enthusiasm has
met with results - let's see how long we can keep it up!!

July 2011
As you can see I am no better
at keeping this up to date but today - 16th July 2011 I had another first
for the moth trap. In it I found a distinctive Sexton Beetle Nichrophorus
vespilloides
