Moths seen in the garden to date A-C, Moths D-F, G-M, N-Si, Sh-the end

August 2008

A brilliant start to August as far as new moths are concerned, there were two new species for the  garden on the first day which has encouraged me to update the site. The first was one of the smaller tortricidae moths an epiblema foenella
The second, which I almost missed, was on the kitchen window and it was my husband who noticed it. How I could miss this beauty I cannot imagine. It is the magpie moth, abraxas grassulariata.

Yet another new moth, although I have subsequently discovered that I had incorrectly identified it previously, the cydia splendana

I misidentified it as a codling moth, cydia pomonella.
