September 2nd and we are having a
second summer it seems, the sky has been blue for the last couple of days and
it promises to get better before deteriorating once again, probably for the
weekend. I really have not got to grips with the web site since the holiday mainly
because I have not had the incentive with very few moths in the trap when I
have put it out and those that it contains have already been pictured on the
site. However last night there was a new moth so here is the latest addition to
my photograph collection. Quite a pretty addition I thought.
September 3rd and the weather is once again warm and sunny, the forecast is looking good at least throughout the weekend, so much for my cynicism of yesterday! The moth trap also proved worth putting out last night with 2 new moths and several favourites from last year. I include the 2 new ones here and 3 of the ones I find attractive.

I have tried to give some idea of size in this depiction of these moths but they will all open up for closer inspection.
Monday, September 6th, and the weather remains hot and sunny, the forecast is now that this will last throughout the week. As the weather is so good and Pete and I will have less time to go out in the near future due to my studies we are planning to go to a butterfly park this afternoon as this is something we both enjoy and because the schools have just gone back it should not be too busy on a Monday. Hopefully there will be some photos from this visit on the site within the next few days but for now there are 2 new moth photos that I have taken since 3rd.
Already it is Thursday and in spite of having gone to the butterfly park on Monday I have not had the time to load pictures from this visit onto the site. This is because I have been doing another project that has taken several hours to complete but which is now finished. This project was to place all the moths that I have seen to date in alphabetical order on what has turned out to be 4 pages. This reference has been for my benefit so that I have pictures to refer to next year and for general interest. As I have already mentioned there are presently 4 pages and I hope this will remain so for some time although they will be updated as and when new moths appear. To access these please click on the following links; A-F, G-N, N-Si, Sh-to the end.
A couple of weeks have elapsed since
I last wrote to this diary. The weather has been quite good but I have been too
busy doing other things so have not had time to update it. Also the moths have
been rather repetative of late, however this morning by the moth-trap, NOT IN
IT!!! there was this Blair's shoulder-knot, Lithophane leautieri
